FIBER: why do I need it?

WHY?  Fiber greatly helps your digestive tract.  Fiber from foods can help you lose weight, lower your cholesterol, and reduce heart disease.

HOW MUCH? The recommended daily amount is 14 grams for every 1,000 calories; thats about 25 grams for woman & 38 grams for men.

FIBER SUPPLEMENTS? Getting your fiber from whole foods offers the best nutrient package as few fiber supplements have been studied for benefits beyond digestive health.

SUGGESTIONS: Eat whole fruits & veggies at every meal.  also add whole grains IE: (100% whole wheat bread) to at least half of your meals.

SAMPLE DAY:
1 c. multi grain chex (7g)
1 apple with skin (4g)
PB & banana on 100% whole wheat bread (8g)
1 c. steamed green beans (4g)
1/2 c.  fresh berries (4g)
TOTAL: 27 g.
